"The aim of talking to a therapist is to facilitate you making sense of what is going on for you in the here-and-now, as well as addressing past experiences and how they impact on the present, the person you are today"
Paul West, Integrative Therapist
Life can feel overwhelming and therapy helps you, the client, gain clarity and insight into who you are, what you believe in and what you most want from life.
Such exploration aims at greater self-understanding, heightened self-acceptance, improved relationships with others and greater control over your life.
The way I work is "integrative", in that it embraces facets of both psychodynamic and existential psychotherapy. There are many different approaches to working therapeutically, however, the most successful therapies are always based on the quality of the relationship of mutual respect and trust between client and therapist.
Client and therapist meet for 60 minutes each week, after an initial consultation which enables us to decide if we can work together. Time spans for therapy can vary, depending on what you choose to bring to sessions and how you are finding the process. We review the therapy on a regular basis, usually every 6-8 weeks.
